He received B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. John Raskob was born in Lockport, N.Y. on March 19, 1879. He was educated in the area's public schools and after holding a number of positions as a stenographer and secretary went to work for The Johnson Company of Lorain, Ohio, in August 1900. George E. Thompson was born on May 3, 1910. In 1930 he became personal private secretary and general assistant to industrialist Pierre S. du Pont.
